Intro Music

The Bubble Hour's opening music was written and recorded by our very own Co-Host Jean before she got sober, but the lyrics are amazingly perfect for recovery. Jean said if she were to re-record the song, the only thing she would change is the word "weakness" (I just want to be free from the power weakness had on me) to "silence".

I Own It, by Jean
I own it, I did that
Not proud but that was me
When I face it I take back a little dignity
I'm not looking for excuses
I just want to be freefrom the power weakness had on me.

In a darkened corner is where shame likes to hide
Oh you think you're strong because you keep it all inside
It just lays and waits there to rob you of your pride
Turn the light on turn the light on, you can shine

When you say I own it, I did that
Not proud but that was me
When I face it I take back a little dignity
I'm not looking for excuses
I just want to be free from the power weakness had on me.

You don't have to shout it out on main street to be clear
You don't need to whisper to confessionary ears
The person you should talk to is looking at you in the mirror
And the One who matters most can always hear

When you say I own it, I did that
Not proud but that was me
When I face it I take back a little dignity
I'm not looking for excuses
I just want to be free from the power weakness had on me.

  3. I have to say, I really love the line, "the power weakness had on me" - particularly in relationship to recovery. But hey, the songwriter's opinion trumps the listener's!

I love the song and love the podcast. Thanks, ladies, for your service!

  5. Jean, you have NO idea how much this song truly "speaks" to me. I have the lyrics printed off (with the word "silence" in parenthesis after "weakness") and they run through my mind throughout the day. If you should ever record the song, please let me know. I will be the first waiting in line to purchase it!
